21st Century Lesson Plans

We will be doing a lesson on poetry using our new 21st century learning techniques. The students will be given a specific type of poetry; they must then analyze the parts of that poem, find examples, and create their own. They will need to organize these pieces into a presentation that will then be given to the class, so as to teach their fellow students about their type of poem.

The students will be first creating their own grading rubric. This rubric will include all of the information that will be needed in their presentation to assure that the learner has gathered all of the information necessary to perform the skill introduced.

The students will then pick from multiple media tools to present the information they have gathered. They may choose between: prezi, storybird, visual.ly, and comic creator. These tools will aid in their explanation of the poem provided. They must work in collaborative groups to ensure that all areas of the poem are being taught. Each student will have their own individual role, along with their own area that they will be held responsible for.

I will assess their presentation based upon the rubric provided by the student groups, along with using a rubric that I have made for presentations. They must all have equal roles and time during the presentation.
